A Chinese farmer has built his own prosthetic arms from scratch.
Sun Jifa lost his arms in a freak accident nine years ago when a fishing explosive went off.
Unable to afford prosthetic ones from a hospital, he bought a cheap pair which proved to be useless to him.
Jifa then spent the next eight years creating his own arms completely from scratch.
His arms have allowed him to continue working on the farm and even perform routine tasks such as lighting a cigarette.
Jifa, 53, says: "By using these hands, I can help the family with chores. I can do some farm work, I'm not useless. I really feel a weight has lifted. I feel I'm not a freeloader. I can be useful."
He has also turned his skill into a business by making limbs for other amputees after he started receiving requests.
Jifa estimates he has already sold about 1,000 artificial limbs for 3,000 yuan (£324, $490) each, a tenth of the price of what most hospitals charge for high-end prosthetics.
